Salesforce Accelerates AI Development
Salesforce has launched Agentforce 2.5, a significant update to its platform, which includes a suite of new developer tools aimed at facilitating the creation of generative AI agents.
Most of these features are available now or will debut later this month, with some preview features coming in the fall. In this update, bots can now proactively respond to triggers, enabling users to build autonomous agents. By utilizing the Agentforce API and linking to automation tools like Salesforce Flow and Apex, customers can integrate agents into business logic, allowing them to handle low-level tasks such as processing refunds in customer service and screening resumes for HR roles.
The Demand for Agentic AI
The demand for agentic AI is strong, but analysts like Dion Hinchcliffe from Futurum Group note that many customers prefer integrated platforms over building their own agents. The focus is on automating customer service, marketing, and sales, with organizations hesitant to tackle the complexities of security, data access, and governance involved in creating their own agents.
Developers Get New Tools
The Salesforce Developer Edition now features no-code agent builders that operate within Slack, along with Agentforce Developer Edition offering Data Cloud space and 150 large language model (LLM) generations per hour. Furthermore, tools for advanced developers and analytics via Interaction Explorer are included, enhancing the performance tracking of Agentforce agents.
Salesforce has reported closing 5,000 Agentforce deals since its launch at Dreamforce last September, with applications across various sectors including retail, healthcare, and travel. Notably, small businesses have found success in implementing Agentforce independently, showcasing its user-friendly nature.
New Marketplace for Agentic AI
In conjunction with these updates, Salesforce has introduced AgentExchange, a marketplace for Agentic AI resources, featuring 200 partners offering prebuilt actions and templates for users of Agentforce.
This latest release, along with the new marketplace and tools, was unveiled at the TDX developer conference in San Francisco. As the realm of AI continues to evolve rapidly, organizations are encouraged to carefully assess how these new agent implementations can fit into their operational frameworks.
