Bomb Threat Investigation at King Soopers
The Aurora Police Department has taken swift action following a bomb threat made at the King Soopers located off S. Peoria Street on Monday afternoon. The shopping center was promptly evacuated as a precautionary measure, and a shelter-in-place order was issued for the surrounding area.
Details of the Incident
A store employee reported the bomb threat to 911 around 3:15 PM after a call was received at the customer service desk. According to Lieutenant Carrigan Bennett, the threat mentioned that there were "approximately five bombs potentially placed outside the store."
In response, officers from the police department, along with explosive detection K9s and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad, were dispatched to the scene. After a thorough sweep of the area, no suspicious devices were found.
Current Status
The shelter-in-place order has been lifted, and control of the store has been returned to King Soopers management. Bennett stated that the investigation is ongoing, with detectives currently following up on various leads.
